Message from the ex-president Johan T Hazekamp

Thank you, all the members of the NFS and the many individuals who have given me support during my 6 years as NFS President.

Thank you Julius Hreinsson for the immense job done as Treasurer, and thank you Bente Skov Iversen and Susanne Detvang for the secretarial work - new members, communications and writing of minutes.

Thank you Tom Tanbo and Karin Hallman who went whole heartedly in for the vision "Building a Bridge to Society" for this Oslo Conference. For me this conference was the climax I slowly work towards, starting carefully in Ebeltoft where I introduced the Sosial Anthropologist Marit Melhuus, through the Åre conference where we had our first public popular session and I presented the film "Looking After Your and Our Future", then Espoo and now the Oslo Conference designed to look at our work from a different perspective, Demographics (Tom), and my own wish, with Karins devoted assistance: to attempt to make infertility workers scrutinise their own tolerance levels on treatment, and perhaps lower some of the hurdles one puts up (personal prejudices not always thought through) when confronted with our patients dilemmas - Philosophy (Torbjørn Tännsjø), Ethics (Guido Pennings) - did you hear the buzz from the audience? , and New Ways of Family Building (Fiona MacCallum) - the future lies ahead - NOT BEHIND US.

...and then to cap it all, the opportunity to see all our faces hidden under real masks during the colourful Gala evening. How wonderful you all looked. And your response too the film "Le Bal Masque" warmed my heart. NO ONE had seen the film before you did. It had to be a surprise. It was my personal gift to all of you.

May I wish Søren Ziebe all the best as newly elected NFS-President and the elected committee who will all now take the society further in this rapidly developing modern world.

Once again,
Thank you all.
